New Rules for Bringing Meat, Dairy, Fish, and Animal Products into Great Britain
Businesses and travelers importing food products into Great Britain must adhere to updated regulations regarding meat, dairy, fish, and other animal-based goods. The rules vary depending on the country of origin, with stricter restrictions in place for certain regions due to concerns over animal disease outbreaks.
For imports from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, travelers can bring in limited quantities of fish, poultry, eggs, and honey. However, temporary restrictions apply to pork, beef, lamb, mutton, goat, venison, and related products due to disease concerns.
Additionally, dairy and milk products must be commercially packaged and labeled with an EU identification mark. Certain countries, including Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia, face additional restrictions on meat and dairy imports.
For non-human consumption, animal products such as pet food must meet specific packaging and labeling requirements. Importers must ensure proper disposal of restricted items to prevent contamination risks.
